‘What he brings to each interaction is more than being a superb teacher: he is simply excellent at building the level of rapport required to not only teach, but impart real value in that of teaching.’

I have never had the privilege of working under Dr. Michael Low. However, when I observe how his teaching and companionship have both touched the lives of those around me in such a vital way, I find myself wanting to have learned from him. Since I first met him, I have been struck by how a person who is, at once, electric, charming and gregarious, can hide behind that façade the enormous talent of a truly great artist.

In my mind, Michael’s greatest gift to students is not the opportunity to work with a highly accomplished musician, but in the mere interaction with his boundless personality. Watching Michael at work with his students and colleagues is an eye-opening experience; he embodies humility, and is able to relate to individuals on all levels of technical ability. What he brings to each interaction is more than being a superb teacher: he is simply excellent at building the level of rapport required to not only teach, but impart real value in that of teaching.

Much is to be said of Michael’s bubbly character, the quirks and the easy smiles that make him such an effective communicator as well as a fantastic person. However, his powerful personality is just the driving force behind a keen ambition. One cannot underestimate the powerful and unique way he interacts with his craft and with others. It is a truly rare quality for one to have, and it has made Michael the huge success he is today.
